Dear Valued Customer,                         

We have several exciting updates to share from the Darlington County Water & Sewer Authority (DCWSA).

First, we are pleased to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors: Mr. Tim Griggs, Mr. Sylvester Wilson, Mrs. Dawn Calhoun (Treasurer), and Mr. Robert (Randy) Lowe. They join our current board members: Mr. John Isgett (Chairman), Mr. Carl Goodson (Vice Chairman), and Mr. Elbert Warren. We appreciate their willingness to serve our customers and community.

Water Meter Upgrade Project

DCWSA is beginning a multi-year project to upgrade our water meters to the Badger E-Series with Orion Cellular Transmitters. This project is expected to take approximately 12 years to complete.

As part of this effort, we will also complete the lead and copper service line inventory required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SC DES). When our service technicians replace your meter, they will identify and document both the Authority's service line and the customer's service line for our records.

Introducing EyeOnWater

The new meter system includes access to EyeOnWater, a free customer application from Badger Meter that provides detailed information about your water usage.

With EyeOnWater, you will be able to:

  • View your water usage by the hour, day, month, or year.
  • Monitor the same usage information available to DCWSA.
  • Track how much water is used for activities such as filling a swimming pool or watering your lawn.
  • Detect leaks quickly by viewing when unusual water usage began and estimating the amount of water lost.
  • Set up customizable alerts for high water usage and potential leaks.

This new technology gives you greater insight into your water consumption and can help you conserve water and avoid costly leaks.

Water Main Improvement Project

DCWSA is also in the planning stages of a major water main improvement project. The new water main will extend along South Center Road to South Carolina Highway 401 to improve water volume and system reliability for Lamar and the surrounding communities.

The project will include approximately five miles of 16-inch PVC water main. It is currently in the design phase, and construction is expected to begin in the coming years.

Updated Delinquent Account Policy

Beginning August 1, 2026, DCWSA will implement an updated policy regarding delinquent accounts.

Any account that is 30 days past due will be subject to disconnection. We encourage all customers to make timely payments.
